July 2nd marked the day of The Big Bang Fair North West and can say that the event came with an impact. The Exhibition was held in Liverpool which was a brisk walk from the office to the event space which was very convenient. This event was organised by All About STEM to help the encouragement of science, technology, engineering and maths within the younger generation still in education.

The event was intended to educate and gain excitement within these industries towards young academics. The event was full of practical activities, interactive workshops, exciting theatre shows and opportunities to talk to scientists and engineers who have industry expertise and work for noted companies in the northwest. This is a great way to highlight career routes and technicalities which aren’t highlighted within the educational environment, therefore, leads to further one of these specialisms within higher education.

This event is part of a national programme led by Engineering UK which enabled over 8000 school children (up from 7000 in 2018) to discover what STEM-based careers. More than 160,000 students and over 900 employers visited regional and local Fairs in 2017/18.

Our involvement was in conjunction with Chartered ICES, Geoterra, Leica Geosystems and Geotechnics which include a joint stand showcasing the latest technology, applications solutions used within the Surveyor/Geomatics industry.

This fair was a great way to inspire the next in line to frontier the industry, the future engineers and surveyors who attended. Such a positive impact to highlight these paths as a potential career and help generate more awareness of our work expertise.
